The notables among his people who had refused to believe and who denied the meeting of the Hereafter, and those whom We had endowed with ease and comfort in this life, cried out: "This is no other than a mortal like yourselves who eats what you eat and drinks what you drink. 33 If you obey a mortal like yourselves, you shall be lost. 34 Does he promise you that when you are dead and are reduced to dust and bones, you will be brought forth to life? 35 ۞ What you are promised is indeed far-fetched. 36 There is nought but our life of the world; we die and we live, and we are not going to be raised up. 37 He is but a man who hath fabricated against God a lie, and in him we are not going to be believers. 38 He said, 'O my Lord, help me, for that they cry me lies.' 39 He replied: 'Before long, by the morning, they shall be remorseful' 40 So the true Scream seized them – We therefore made them like rotten hay; so away with the unjust people! 41 Then We raised after them other generations. 42 No community can anticipate their term, nor can they lay behind. 43 Then We sent our messengers one after another. Whenever its messenger came unto a nation they denied him; so We caused them to follow one another (to disaster) and We made them bywords. A far removal for folk who believe not! 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our miracles and clear authority 45 to Pharaoh and to his chiefs, but they behaved superciliously and they were haughty. 46 They said: "Shall we believe in two men like ourselves? And their people are subject to us!" 47 Then they accused them of lies, and joined the company of those who were destroyed. 48 We gave Moses the Book so that they might be guided. 49 and We made Mary's son, and his mother, to be a sign, and gave them refuge upon a height, where was a hollow and a spring: 50
