Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 Some faces will on that Day be downcast, 2 Labouring, wearied out, 3 The while they enter the Blazing Fire,- 4 They will be given to drink from a boiling spring, 5 For them there will be no food except from a poisonous, thorny plant 6 which neither sustains, nor satisfy hunger. 7 Many faces will be joyous on that day, 8 well-pleased with [the fruit of] their striving, 9 in a sublime Garden, 10 Where they shall hear no (word) of vanity: 11 Within it is a flowing spring. 12 Therein are thrones raised high, 13 And chosen goblets. 14 and cushions arrayed 15 And carpets ready spread, 16 Do they never reflect on the camels and how they were created, 17 how the heavens are raised up high, 18 And the mountains: how they were fixed? 19 And at the earth - how it is spread out? 20 So render good counsel, for you are simply required to counsel, 21 Thou art not one to manage (men's) affairs. 22 Except whoever turns away and disbelieves – 23 Allah will punish him with a mighty Punishment, 24 Verily, to Us will be their return; 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
