Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
HAS THERE COME unto thee the tiding of the Overshadowing Event? 1 (Some) faces on that day shall be downcast, 2 labouring, weary, 3 They will [enter to] burn in an intensely hot Fire. 4 Given water from the boiling spring to drink. 5 They shall have no food but of thorns, 6 which will neither fatten them nor satisfy them. 7 [Other] faces, that Day, will show pleasure. 8 well pleased with the result of their striving, 9 In a high Garden. 10 wherein they will not hear any vain talk. 11 In it there shall be a flowing spring, 12 And within it are couches placed on high, 13 Goblets set, 14 cushions ranged, 15 And linen spread out. 16 Do they not look at the Camels, how they are made?- 17 And at the sky - how it is raised? 18 And the mountains: how they were fixed? 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 And so, [O Prophet,] exhort them; thy task is only to exhort: 21 You are not a dictator over them. 22 But whoever turns back and denies the truth, 23 Allah will punish them with the greatest punishment. 24 Surely to Us is their return; 25 Ours is surely then to reckon with them. 26
