The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the event befalleth - 1 (and none denies its descending) 2 (a calamitous Event) that shall turn things upside down: 3 When the earth shall be shaken with a (severe) shaking, 4 And the mountains are broken down, crumbling 5 And become dust dispersing. 6 And ye shall be sorted out into three classes. 7 Then (as to) the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 8 And those on the Left Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Record in their left hands), Who will be those on the Left Hand? (As a disgrace for them, because they will enter Hell). 9 The third to the fore shall be the foremost. 10 Those are the ones brought near [to Allah] 11 In Gardens of Delight. 12 A multitude of those of old 13 but only a few from the later generations. 14 On couches wrought of gold, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 They will be served by immortal boys, 17 With cups, and jugs, and a glass from the flowing wine, 18 which will not cause them any intoxication or illness. 19 along with fruits of their choice; 20 And with flesh of fowls from that which they desire. 21 and wide-eyed houris 22 Like pearls within their shells, 23 a recompense for that they laboured. 24 They will not hear any useless speech in it, or any sin. 25 Other than "Peace, peace" the salutation. 26 And those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 27 Midst lote-trees thornless. 28 And [banana] trees layered [with fruit] 29 and continuous shade, 30 and waters gushing, 31 and abundant fruit, 32 Whose season is not limited, nor (supply) forbidden, 33 and raised couches 34 Indeed, We have produced the women of Paradise in a [new] creation 35 and We made them spotless virgins, 36 Lovers, friends, 37 For those of the right hand. 38
