And indeed, We created man from sounding clay of altered black smooth mud. 26 And the jinn, We created aforetime from the smokeless flame of fire. 27 And (remember) when your Lord said to the angels: "I am going to create a man (Adam) from sounding clay of altered black smooth mud. 28 So, when I have made him and have breathed into him of My Spirit, do ye fall down, prostrating yourselves unto him. 29 So the angels prostrated themselves, all of them together: 30 Except Iblis (Satan), - he refused to be among the prostrators. 31 "How is it, O Iblis," said (the Lord), "you did not join those who bowed in homage?" 32 He replied, "I am not one to prostrate myself to a man whom You have created out of a clay of moulded mud." 33 Said He: "Go forth, then, from this [angelic state]: for, behold, thou art [henceforth] accursed, 34 And indeed, upon you is the curse until the Day of Recompense." 35 Satan said, "O my Lord! Grant me respite till the Day of Resurrection." 36 Allah said: "Then, verily, you are of those reprieved, 37 until the day of a known time." 38 He said, "My Lord, since You have let me go astray. I shall make the path of error seem alluring to them on the earth and shall mislead them all, 39 Except, among them, Your chosen servants." 40 Allah said: "Here is the path that leads straight to Me. 41 Surely, as regards My servants, you have no authority, over them except those who follow you of the deviators. 42 For whom the ordained place is surely Hell, 43 It has seven gates; for every gate there shall be a separate party of them. 44
