The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
O thou shrouded in thy mantle, 1 Arise, and warn. 2 And thy Sustainer's greatness glorify! 3 and purify your clothing, 4 And banish all trepidation. 5 and bestow not favour in order to seek from others a greater return, 6 And for the sake of your Lord, patiently endure. 7 So when the Trumpet will be blown. 8 That Day will be a difficult day 9 For the unbelievers, anything but easy. 10 Leave Me alone [to deal] with him whom I have created alone, 11 and appointed for him ample wealth 12 and children living in his presence, 13 and made all things smooth for him; 14 After all that he desires that I should give more; 15 Nay! For lo! he hath been stubborn to Our revelations. 16 I will cover him with arduous torment. 17 For he thought and he plotted -- 18 death seized him, how was his determining! 19 And once more let him be cursed, how he plotted! 20 Then he looked round; 21 frowned and scowled; 22 then he retreated and waxed proud, 23 And said: This is naught else than magic from of old; 24 It is nothing but the word of a mortal' 25 I will cast him into the fire of Hell. 26 And what can make you know what is Saqar? 27 It does not allow to live, and neither leaves [to die,] 28 It strips away the hide of man. 29 Over it are nineteen (guards). 30 We have appointed none but angels to guard the Fire, and made their number only as a trial for the unbelievers, so that those to whom the Book was given are certain and those who believe increase in belief. And that those who were given the Book, and those who believe will not be in doubt. And that those in whose hearts there is a sickness, together with the unbelievers, may say: 'What did Allah intend by this as an example' As such, Allah leaves in error whom He will and He guides whomsoever He will. None knows the hosts of your Lord except He. This is no more than a Reminder to humans. 31
