The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the Event (the resurrection) comes 1 there is no denying its coming 2 Abasing (some), exalting (others); 3 when the earth will suddenly shake with a terrible shaking, 4 and the mountains fragmented 5 becoming scattered dust, 6 And ye will be three kinds: 7 Those of the right hand -- how (happy) will be those of the right hand! 8 And (then) those on the left hand; what of those on the left hand? 9 And the foremost in the race, the foremost in the race: 10 those are they brought near (to their Lord) 11 in the Gardens of Delight, 12 A throng of the ancients, 13 and only a few of them from the later generations. 14 (They will be) on Thrones encrusted (with gold and precious stones), 15 they shall recline, facing each other, 16 Immortal youths will serve them 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of limpid drink. 18 that will neither make the head throb, nor intoxicate, 19 And such fruits as they fancy, 20 Bird meats that they relish, 21 And (there will be) Companions with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes,- 22 Like pearls within their shells, 23 As reward for what they used to do. 24 They will not hear any useless speech in it, or any sin. 25 but only the tiding of inner soundness and peace. 26 And the fellows on the right hand; how be happy shall the fellows on the right hand be! 27 They will live amid the thornless lot trees 28 and clustered bananas, 29 And spreading shade, 30 Gushing water, 31 and abundant fruits, 32 never-ending and unrestricted, 33 And raised couches; 34 We have formed them in a distinctive fashion, 35 and shall have made them virgins, 36 Loving (their husbands only), equal in age. 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
