Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Ha Mim. 1 By the clear Book, 2 Surely We have made it an Arabic Quran that you may understand. 3 Truly, it is inscribed in the Original Book, in Our keeping; it is sublime and full of wisdom. 4 [O YOU who deny the truth!] Should We, perchance, withdraw this reminder from you altogether, seeing that you are people bent on wasting your own selves? 5 And how many Prophets We did send among the earlier people! 6 But never yet came a prophet to them without their deriding him 7 Wherefore We destroyed peoples mightier than these in prowess; and there hath gone forth the example of the ancients. 8 (Muhammad), if you ask them, "Who has created the heavens and the earth?" They will certainly say, "The Majestic and All-knowing God has created them". 9 He who appointed the earth to be a cradle for you, and appointed ways for you therein, that haply you may be guided; 10 That sends down (from time to time) rain from the sky in due measure;- and We raise to life therewith a land that is dead; even so will ye be raised (from the dead);- 11 And the One Who created all pairs, and made the ships and cattle as rides for you. 12 so that you may sit firmly on their backs. Then once you have mounted them, remember your Lord's favour and say, "Glory be to Him who has subjected these creatures to us; we would never on our own have subdued them. 13 To our Lord we shall all return". 14 Yet they make some of His creatures His offspring! Man is surely most ungrateful. 15
