The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Whereof do they question one another? 1 Of the mighty Announcement, 2 whereupon they are at variance? 3 Indeed, they shall know! 4 Again, no indeed; they shall soon know! 5 Have We not made the earth an even expanse? 6 And the high hills bulwarks? 7 And We have created you in pairs, 8 and gave you repose in sleep, 9 The night a covering, 10 and the day as time for you to make a living? 11 And We have builded over you seven strong heavens. 12 and We have set therein a glowing lamp. 13 And from the wind-driven clouds We send down waters pouring in abundance, 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetations, 15 and thick gardens grow? 16 Surely the day of decision is (a day) appointed: 17 The Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and you shall come forth in crowds (groups); 18 And the heavens shall be opened as if there were doors, 19 The mountains will be driven away and become like mirages. 20 Indeed, Gehenna (Hell) has become an ambush, 21 for the insolent a resort, 22 therein to tarry for ages, 23 tasting therein neither coolness nor any drink 24 except boiling water and pus, 25 A fitting recompense (for them). 26 They were those who did not expect a reckoning, 27 having given the lie to Our messages one and all: 28 Everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 So taste (of that which ye have earned). No increase do We give you save of torment. 30
