The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the heaven and the night-comer 1 And have you understood what the nightly arriver is? 2 The very brightly shining star! 3 There is no soul but has a protector over it. 4 Let man reflect on what he was created from. 5 He was created from ejaculated water 6 That issued from between the loins and ribs. 7 He certainly has the power to bring him back to life. 8 The Day when secrets will be put on trial, 9 Then he shall have no power nor any helper. 10 By the sky which returns [rain] 11 And [by] the earth which cracks open, 12 Indeed, the Qur'an is a decisive statement, 13 And it is not a thing for amusement. 14 Lo! they plot a plot (against thee, O Muhammad) 15 And I am plotting a plot. 16 Give respite to the disbelievers and leave them alone for a while. 17
