And the chiefs of his people, who disbelieved and denied the Meeting in the Hereafter, and to whom We had given the luxuries and comforts of this life, said: "He is no more than a human being like you, he eats of that which you eat, and drinks of what you drink. 33 "If ye obey a man like yourselves, behold, it is certain ye will be lost. 34 "Does he promise you that when you have died and have become dust and bones, you shall come out alive (resurrected)? 35 ۞ "Far, very far is that which you are promised. 36 There is only the life of this world: We die and we live: there is no rising from the dead for us. 37 "He is only a man who invents a lie against Allah, but we are not the ones to believe in him!" 38 The Messenger said: "My Lord! Come to my help at their accusing me of lying." 39 (Allah) said: "In a little while, they are sure to be regretful." 40 And then the blast [of Our punishment] overtook them, justly and unavoidably, and We caused them to become as the flotsam of dead leaves and the scum borne on the surface of a torrent: and so - away with those evildoing folk! 41 Then after them, We created other generations. 42 no community can advance or postpone its appointed time, 43 then We sent Our messengers in succession. Every time their messenger came to a people, they rejected him. So We destroyed them one after the other, and let them become mere tales. So away with the people who will not believe! 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our signs and clear authority 45 to Pharaoh and his Council, but they were very proud, and they were a tyrannical nation. 46 They said, "Are we to believe in two human beings like ourselves, while their people are subject to us?" 47 Then they accused them of lies, and joined the company of those who were destroyed. 48 And We verily gave Moses the Scripture, that haply they might go aright. 49 And We made the son of Marium and his mother a sign, and We gave them a shelter on a lofty ground having meadows and springs. 50
