The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
O the Cloaked One! (Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) 1 Arise and warn, 2 And proclaim the Purity of your Lord. 3 And keep your clothes clean. 4 and flee from the statues! 5 And bestow not favors that you may receive again with increase, 6 And for the sake of your Lord, patiently endure. 7 For when the trumpet is sounded, 8 That, at that time, shall be a difficult day, 9 Dolorous for the unbelievers. 10 Leave Me alone [to deal] with him whom I have created alone, 11 To whom I granted resources in abundance, 12 and children living in his presence, 13 whose life I have made run smoothly 14 And yet he desires that I should add more! 15 Not at all! Surely, he has been disobedient to Our verses. 16 I shall inflict on him hardship, 17 For lo! he did consider; then he planned - 18 (Self-)destroyed is he, how he planned! 19 Again, death seize him, how he determined! 20 He looked (at others); 21 Then frowned and grimaced. 22 Then he turned back and was big with pride, 23 And said, “This is nothing but magic learnt from earlier men.” 24 It is nothing but the word of a mortal' 25 I will surely roast him in the Scorching. 26 And what knoweth thou that which the Scorching Fire? 27 Naught doth it permit to endure, and naught doth it leave alone!- 28 it scorches the skin; 29 Over it are nineteen keepers. 30 We have appointed none but angels as the keepers of the Fire, and We have not made their number but as a trial for the unbelievers so that those who have been endowed with the Book will be convinced and the believers' faith will increase, and neither those who have been endowed with the Book nor the believers will fall into any doubt. As for those in whose hearts there is a sickness as well as the unbelievers, they will say: “What did Allah aim at by this strange parable?” Thus does Allah let whomsoever He pleases to go astray, and directs whomsoever He pleases to the Right Way. And none knows the hosts of your Lord but He. (And Hell has only been mentioned here) that people may take heed. 31
