He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ (The Prophet (Peace be upon him)) frowned and turned away, 1 Because the blind man came unto him. 2 And what could let you know? Perhaps he (comes to hear you) to be purified. 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and that the admonition might profit him? 4 As for him who considers himself free from need (of you), 5 To him do you address yourself. 6 And you have nothing to lose if he does not become pure. 7 But as for him who cometh unto thee with earnest purpose 8 and who has fear of God, 9 Of him wast thou unmindful. 10 No indeed; this is only a Reminder. 11 Therefore let whoso will, keep it in remembrance. 12 It is set down on honoured pages, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 noble and purified. 16 Man is (self-)destroyed: how ungrateful! 17 From what did He create him? 18 From Nutfah (male and female semen drops) He created him, and then set him in due proportion; 19 Then made his passage easy (at birth); 20 Then He caused him to die and made him to be buried. 21 and He will resurrect him whenever He wants. 22 Yet man declines to do His bidding. 23 Let the human reflect on the food he eats, 24 That We watered it in abundance. 25 Then We cleave the earth, cleaving (it) asunder, 26 And We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 and vines and edible plants, 28 And Olives and Dates, 29 Orchards thick with trees, 30 and fruit and pastures, 31 (These are made so as to be) means of enjoyment for you and your cattle. 32 So when the deafening Shout arrives, 33 it will be such a day when a person will run away from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 his wife and his sons: 36 for on that day everyone will be completely engrossed in his own concerns. 37 Faces on that Day shall be beaming, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news. 39 And [other] faces, that Day, will have upon them dust. 40 Darkness shall cover them. 41 those will be ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity. 42
