A numerous company from among the first, 39 and a multitude of the later people. 40 And those of the left hand, how wretched are those of the left hand! 41 In fierce hot wind and boiling water, 42 And a shade of black smoke, 43 Neither cool nor honorable. 44 Lo! heretofore they were effete with luxury 45 and had persisted in the Great Sin. 46 And they used to say, "What! when we die and become dust and bones, shall we then indeed be raised up again?- 47 “And also our forefathers?” 48 Say, "Indeed, the earlier ones and the later ones 49 shall all be brought together on an appointed Day. 50 Then lo! ye, the erring, the deniers, 51 Most surely eat of a tree of Zaqqoom, 52 "Then will ye fill your insides therewith, 53 and drink on top of that boiling water 54 "Indeed ye shall drink like diseased camels raging with thirst!" 55 This shall be their entertainment on the Day of Judgement. 56 It is He who created you, then why do you not affirm the truth? 57 Have you seen sperm? 58 Do you create a child out of it, or are We its creators? 59 It was We who decreed death among you. We will not be surpassed 60 To transfigure you and create you in (forms) that you know not. 61 You have known the first growth; so why will you not remember? 62 Behold! that which ye sow. 63 Cause it ye to grow, or are We the Grower? 64 If We willed, We could make it [dry] debris, and you would remain in wonder, 65 (Saying): "We are indeed Mughramun (i.e. ruined or lost the money without any profit, or punished by the loss of all that we spend for cultivation, etc.)! [See Tafsir Al-Qurtubi, Vol. 17, Page 219] 66 nay; we have been undone!” 67 Have you considered the water which you drink? 68 Did you send it down from the clouds, or did We send it? 69 If We had so pleased, We could have made it bitter. So why would you not give thanks? 70 Have ye observed the fire which ye strike out; 71 Is it you who made the tree thereof to grow, or are We the Grower? 72 We Ourselves made it for a reminder, and a boon to the desert-dwellers. 73 Then celebrate with praises the name of thy Lord, the Supreme! 74
