And when you killed a living soul, and disputed thereon -- and God disclosed what you were hiding -- 72 We said: 'Strike him with a piece of it' Like this, Allah restores the dead to life and shows you His signs in order that you will understand. 73 Then your hearts became hardened thereafter and are like stones, or even yet harder; for there are stones from which rivers come gushing, and others split, so that water issues from them, and others crash down in the fear of God. And God is not heedless of the things you do. 74 ۞ Can ye (o ye men of Faith) entertain the hope that they will believe in you?- Seeing that a party of them heard the Word of Allah, and perverted it knowingly after they understood it. 75 And when they fall in with those who believe, they say: We believe. But when they go apart one with another they say: Prate ye to them of that which Allah hath disclosed to you that they may contend with you before your Lord concerning it? Have ye then no sense? 76 Do they not know that Allah knows what they keep secret and what they make known? 77 Then there are among them some un-lettered people who have no knowledge of the Book but depend upon empty hopes and are guided by mere conjecture and guess-work. 78 So woe to those who write the "scripture" with their own hands, then say, "This is from Allah," in order to exchange it for a small price. Woe to them for what their hands have written and woe to them for what they earn. 79 They say, "The Fire is not going to touch us, and [even if it does], it will only be for a few days!" Say [to them], "Have you received a promise from God, for God never breaks His promise, or do you attribute something to God which you do not know?" 80 Yes, whoever earns evil and his sin has encompassed him - those are the companions of the Fire; they will abide therein eternally. 81 And those who believe and do righteous works, those shall be the fellows of the Garden, as abiders therein. 82
