The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
46 verses, revealed in Mecca after The News (Al-Naba') before Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By those that pluck out vehemently 1 and those that blow gently, 2 And by those that swim along (i.e. angels or planets in their orbits, etc.). 3 Then outpace the others swiftly 4 by those that direct an affair! 5 On the day when the trembling one will tremble. (The disbelievers will certainly taste the punishment.) 6 The second blowing of the Trumpet follows it (and everybody will be raised up), 7 hearts will undergo terrible trembling, 8 Eyes be lowered in submission. 9 They say: shall we indeed be restored to the first state, 10 “When we have become decayed bones?” 11 They said: That then would be a return occasioning loss. 12 It will only be a single blast, 13 And lo! they all shall appear on the surface. 14 Have you received the story of Moses? 15 When his Lord called to him in the holy valley, Towa: 16 "Go to Pharaoh. Indeed, he has transgressed. 17 And say, "Hast thou the will to purify thyself; 18 Do you want me to guide you to your Lord, so that you should fear Him?'" 19 Then did (Moses) show him the Great Sign. 20 But he rejected (the truth) and disobeyed. 21 He then turned away, striving in his effort. 22 And he gathered [his people] and called out 23 Yet to a rich man, 24 Thereupon Allah seized him for the chastisement of the World to Come as well as of the present. 25 Most surely there is in this a lesson to him who fears. 26
