In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By (the wind) those sent (as horses') mane (in succession), 1 storming tempestuously 2 by the scatterers scattering 3 And those [angels] who bring criterion 4 Then spread abroad a Message, 5 excusing or warning, 6 that whatever with which you have been warned will inevitably come to pass. 7 Then when the stars lose their lights; 8 And when the heaven is cloven asunder. 9 and the mountains are blown away, 10 And when the apostles are collected at the appointed time, 11 to what day shall they be delayed? 12 For the Day of sorting out (the men of Paradise from the men destined for Hell). 13 How will you comprehend what the Day of Judgement is? 14 On that day, woe will be to those who have rejected God's revelations! 15 Did We not destroy the former generations? 16 So shall We make later generations to follow them. 17 Thus do We deal with the criminals. 18 Alas the woe that day for those who deny! 19 Did We not create you from an abject fluid? 20 which We then let remain in [the womb's] firm keeping 21 For a known term? 22 Thus did We Plan and how excellent is Our planning! 23 Woe on that Day to those who belied it! 24 Did We not make the earth a storehouse? 25 The living and the dead, 26 and did We not firmly fix towering mountains on it and give you sweet water to drink? 27 Alas the woe that day for those who deny! 28 Depart to that you cried was lies! 29 Proceed to a shadow rising in three columns: 30 that will offer no [cooling] shade and will be of no avail against the flame 31 Lo! it throweth up sparks like the castles, 32 (Or) as it might be camels of bright yellow hue. 33 Woe, that Day, to the deniers. 34 That will be the Day on which they will not (be able to) utter a word, 35 nor will they be permitted to offer any excuses. 36 Woe on that Day to those who belied it! 37 This is the Day of Judgement; We will have assembled you and the former peoples. 38 So if you have a plan, plan against Me (now). 39 Woe, that Day, to the deniers. 40
