The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O you (Muhammad SAW) enveloped (in garments)! 1 Rise up and warn! 2 And proclaim the Purity of your Lord. 3 And your garments purify! 4 Pollution shun! 5 and bestow not favour in order to seek from others a greater return, 6 But, for thy Lord's (Cause), be patient and constant! 7 Then when the horn shall be blown, 8 That will be- that Day - a Day of Distress,- 9 Not easy upon the disbelievers. 10 Leave Me alone, (to deal) with the (creature) whom I created (bare and) alone!- 11 And then granted him resources in abundance. 12 and children as [love's] witnesses, 13 And made several preparations for him. 14 yet he is eager that I increase him. 15 By no means! Verily he hath been unto Our signs a foe. 16 I shall oblige him to (climb a slippery mountain in the Hell-fire called As-Sa'ud, or to) face a severe torment! 17 For he had thought and calculated. 18 But may he be cursed how he plotted; 19 Yea, Woe to him; How he plotted!- 20 He then dared to lift his gaze. 21 then he frowned and scowled, 22 then turned back, and swelling-up with pride, 23 said, "This (the Quran) is nothing but magic, inherited from ancient magicians. 24 This is nothing but the word of a mortal!" 25 Soon I will cast him into hell. 26 What do you think Hell-fire is? 27 It spares not (any sinner), nor does it leave (anything unburnt)! 28 It scorches the mortal. 29 Over it are appointed nineteen. 30 We have made only angels as the keepers of the fire (for they are the strongest in carrying out Our commands). Our informing (people) of the numbers of these angels is a trial for the disbelievers. It gives more certainty to the people of the Book and strengthens the faith of the believers. The people of the Book and the believers have no doubt about it. We have fixed the number to make the disbelievers and those whose hearts are sick say, "What does God mean by such a parable?" Thus, God guides and causes to go astray whomever He wants. No one knows about the army of your Lord except He Himself. This parable is a reminder for mankind. 31
