(One day) the king said (to his courtiers): "I saw seven fat cows in a dream being devoured by seven lean ones, and seven ears of corn that were green and seven others that were seared. O courtiers, tell me the significance of my dream, if you know how to interpret them." 43 They answered, “These are confused dreams – and we do not know the interpretation of dreams.” 44 Then the one of the twain, who was saved, and now recollected himself after a period, said: I, even I, shall declare unto you the interpretation thereof; so send me forth. 45 Yusuf! O truthful one! explain to us seven fat kine which seven lean ones devoured, and seven green ears and (seven) others dry, that I may go back to the people so that they may know. 46 He said: You shall sow for seven years continuously, then what you reap leave it in its ear except a little of which you eat. 47 “Then after that will come seven hard years which will devour all that you had stored for them, except a little which you may save.” 48 Then a year will come after that when people will have abundant rain and when once more they will press [wine and oil]." 49
