The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
[All] praise is [due] to Allah, who has sent down upon His Servant the Book and has not made therein any deviance. 1 (He has made it) Straight to give warning (to the disbelievers) of a severe punishment from Him, and to give glad tidings to the believers (in the Oneness of Allah Islamic Monotheism), who work righteous deeds, that they shall have a fair reward (i.e. Paradise). 2 They shall abide therein forever. 3 And to warn those who say: Allah hath chosen a son, 4 They have no knowledge of it, nor had their fathers. Grave is the word that comes out of their mouths; they speak not except a lie. 5 But wouldst thou, perhaps, torment thyself to death with grief over them if they are not willing to believe in this message? 6 Lo! We have placed all that is on the earth as an ornament thereof that We may try them: which of them is best in conduct. 7 In the ultimate, We shall reduce all that is on the earth to a barren plain. 8 Or dost thou think the Men of the Cave and Er-Rakeem were among Our signs a wonder? 9 When those youths sought refuge in the Cave and said: "Our Lord! Grant us mercy from Yourself and provide for us rectitude in our affairs." 10 For many years We sealed up their hearing in the Cave, 11 Afterwards. We raised them up again, that We might know which of the two parties would better calculate the while they had tarried. 12
