Recite unto them the story of Abraham: 69 when he asked his father and his people, "What is that which you worship?" 70 They answered: We worship idols, and we remain ever devoted to them." 71 He said, "Do they hear you when you supplicate? 72 "Or do they benefit you or do they harm (you)?" 73 They exclaimed: But we found our forefathers doing the same!" 74 He said: 'Have you considered what you worship, 75 "Ye and your fathers before you?- 76 They are an enemy to me, except the Lord of all Being 77 "Who created me, and it is He Who guides me; 78 It is He who gives me food and drink 79 and when I fall ill, is the One who restores me to health, 80 Who will cause me to die and then will again restore me to life; 81 And Who, I hope, will forgive me my mistakes on the day of judgment. 82 My Lord! Bestow Hukman (religious knowledge, right judgement of the affairs and Prophethood) on me, and join me with the righteous; 83 And appoint for me an honourable mention among the posterity 84 And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Pleasure. 85 and forgive my father, for he was among the astray. 86 And do not disgrace me on the Day they are [all] resurrected - 87 The Day when neither wealth nor sons shall benefit 88 Unless it be he, who shall bring unto Allah a whole heart, 89 and Paradise shall be brought forward to the cautious. 90 And the hell shall be made manifest to the erring ones, 91 And it will be said unto them: Where is (all) that ye used to worship 92 Other than God? Can they save you or even save themselves?" 93 Then they will be thrown headlong into Hell, both they and the misguided ones, 94 And the hosts of Iblis, together. 95 They shall say while they contend therein: 96 By Allah! we were certainly in manifest error, 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of the Worlds. 98 It was naught but the sinners that led us astray; 99 We have no intercessors now, 100 no loyal friend. 101 Oh, that we had another turn (on earth), that we might be of the believers! 102 Verily herein is a sign, but most of them are not believers. 103 And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful. 104
