Relate the news of Abraham to them. 69 when he said to his father and his people, 'What do you serve?' 70 They said: We worship idols, so we shall be their votaries. 71 He said: Do they hear you when you call? 72 "Or do you good or harm?" 73 They said, 'Nay, but we found our fathers so doing.' 74 He said: Have you then considered what you have been worshipping: 75 Ye and your forefathers! 76 They are enemies to me except the Lord of all the Worlds 77 who created me. It is He who guides me; 78 And He Who gives me to eat and gives me to drink: 79 and, whenever I am sick, heals me, 80 "Who will cause me to die, and then to life (again); 81 Who, I hope, will forgive me my sins on the Day of Judgement." 82 "O my Sustainer! Endow me with the ability to judge [between right and wrong,] and make me one with the righteous, 83 And uphold my name with posterity, 84 “And make me among the inheritors of the Gardens of serenity.” 85 Forgive my father. He has gone astray. 86 Do not degrade me on the Day when they are resurrected. 87 The Day when neither wealth nor sons shall benefit 88 “Except he who presented himself before Allah, with a sound* heart.” (Intact or unblemished.) 89 And the Garden shall be brought nigh to the God-fearing. 90 "And to those straying in Evil, the Fire will be placed in full view; 91 And it will be said to them, “Where are those whom you used to worship?” 92 Instead of Allah? Can they help you or help themselves? 93 Then they will be thrown headlong into Hell, both they and the misguided ones, 94 and the hosts of iblis all together. 95 And they will say while they dispute with one another, 96 By Allah, we have indeed been in an error manifest. 97 when we deemed you [false deities] equal to the Sustainer of all the worlds 98 “And none misled us but the guilty.” 99 so now we have no intercessors, 100 nor a loving friend. 101 “So if only were we to go back, in order to become Muslims!” 102 In this there is evidence (of the truth), but many of them do not have any faith. 103 And indeed your Lord – only He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 104
