Recite unto them the story of Abraham: 69 when he asked his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They replied, "We worship idols and shall continue to worship them". 71 He said, 'Do they hear you when you call, 72 or can they benefit or harm you?" 73 They said: Nay, but we found our fathers acting on this wise. 74 He said: have ye observed that which ye worship 75 You and your ancient sires. 76 Yet they are my enemies except the Lord of all the worlds 77 Who created me and Who guides me; 78 It is He who gives me food and drink 79 And when I am ill, it is He who cures me 80 who makes me to die, then gives me life, 81 And who I aspire that He will forgive me my sin on the Day of Recompense." 82 My Lord, give me Judgment, and join me with the righteous, 83 and grant me the power to convey the truth unto those who will come after me, 84 And put me among the inheritors of Paradise. 85 Forgive me and my father: He was surely among those who went astray. 86 And do not disgrace me on the day when they are raised from the graves, 87 The Day when there will not benefit [anyone] wealth or children 88 "But only he (will prosper) that brings to Allah a sound heart; 89 And Paradise will be brought close for the pious. 90 and the Fire will be uncovered for those who strayed, 91 It shall be said to them, 'Where is that you were serving 92 "Instead of Allah? Can they help you or (even) help themselves?" 93 Then will they be hurled therein, they and the seducers 94 and the hosts of Iblis, all together. 95 And there and then, blaming one another, they [who had grievously sinned in life] will exclaim: 96 they will say, "By God, we were in clear error 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of the Worlds. 98 It was nothing but the evildoers who led us astray. 99 so now we have no intercessors, 100 Nor any sincere friend. 101 If only we could return we would be among the believers." 102 In this there is evidence (of the truth), but many of them do not have any faith. 103 Surely, Your Lord is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 104
