The tribe of Thamud rejected the Messengers. 141 When their brother Salih said to them, "Will you not fear God? 142 I have been sent as a trusted messenger to you. 143 Therefore guard against (the punishment of) Allah and obey me: 144 "No reward do I ask of you for it (my Message of Islamic Monotheism), my reward is only from the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). 145 “Will you be left peacefully in these favours over here?” 146 "Gardens and Springs, 147 And corn-fields and palm-trees whereof the spathes are fine? 148 And you hew houses out of the mountains exultingly; 149 Have fear of God and obey me. 150 And obey not the command of the extravagant. 151 and spread mischief in the land rather than set things right." 152 Said they: "Thou art but one of the bewitched! 153 thou art naught but a mortal, like us; then produce a sign, if thou art one of the truthful.' 154 He said, “This is the she-camel – one day shall be her turn to drink, and on the other appointed day, shall be your turn.” 155 so do her no harm, or the punishment of an awful day will befall you." 156 But they killed her, and then they became regretful. 157 and the chastisement seized them. Surely in that is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 158 Yet verily your Lord is mighty and merciful. 159
