The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Event inevitable cometh to pass, 1 There is no denying that it will befall - 2 abasing [some,] exalting [others]! 3 When the earth will be shaken with a terrible shake. 4 And the mountains are crumbled, crumbled. 5 so that they become as scattered dust 6 And ye shall be sorted out into three classes. 7 The People on the Right: and how fortunate will be the People on the Right! 8 And those on the Left Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Record in their left hands), Who will be those on the Left Hand? (As a disgrace for them, because they will enter Hell). 9 And the foremost in the race, the foremost in the race: 10 It is they who are the close ones. 11 in the Gardens of Delight 12 A throng of the ancients, 13 And a few of those of later time. 14 On studded thrones. 15 Reclining therein face to face. 16 they will be waited on by ageless youths 17 With bowls and ewers and a cup from a pure spring 18 No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated - 19 and with fruit of any kind that they may choose, 20 and any flesh of fowl that they desire. 21 And companions with big beautiful eyes 22 Like pearls safely hidden. 23 All this shall be theirs as a reward for their deeds. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk nor any sinful speech. 25 Other than "Peace, peace" the salutation. 26 Those on the Right, how fortunate are those on the Right! 27 (They will be) among thornless lote-trees, 28 and serried acacias, 29 and shade extended, 30 Gushing water, 31 and fruit abounding, 32 Neither ending nor forbidden. 33 They shall be on upraised couches, 34 Perfectly We formed them, perfect, 35 And made them virgin - pure (and undefiled), - 36 full of love, well-matched 37 For those on the right. 38
