The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
46 verses, revealed in Mecca after The News (Al-Naba') before Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
I swear by the angels who violently pull out the souls of the wicked, 1 And those who undo the bonds gently, 2 and by those that speedily glide along (the cosmos), 3 By the angels hastening, 4 And those who govern the event, 5 The day the convulsive (first blast) shatters convulsively 6 What must happen afterwards shall follow it. 7 hearts will undergo terrible trembling, 8 [and] their eyes downcast... 9 They are [presently] saying, "Will we indeed be returned to [our] former state [of life]? 10 Even if we should be decayed bones? 11 They say: Then that would be a vain proceeding. 12 It will be only one scaring shout, 13 When lo! they shall be wakeful. 14 Has the story of Moses reached thee? 15 When his Lord called to him in Tuwa's holy vale? 16 Go to Firon, surely he has become inordinate. 17 and say [unto him,] 'Art thou desirous of attaining to purity? 18 And let me guide you to your Lord so you would fear [Him]?'" 19 Then [Musa (Moses)] showed him the great sign (miracles). 20 In response, he denied and disobeyed. 21 Then he turned his back, striving. 22 Then he gathered and cried aloud, 23 and proclaimed, "I am your supreme Lord," 24 So Allah seized him (and made him) an example for the after (life) and for the former. 25 surely there is in this a lesson for the God-fearing. 26
