The tribe of Thamud rejected the Messengers. 141 When their brother Salih said to them, "Will you not fear God? 142 Lo! I am a faithful messenger unto you, 143 "So fear Allah, keep your duty to Him, and obey me. 144 For this I demand no recompense from you; my reward is only with the Lord of the Universe. 145 "Will ye be left secure, in (the enjoyment of) all that ye have here? 146 "In gardens and springs. 147 And tilled fields and heavy-sheathed palm-trees, 148 "And you carve houses out of mountains with great skill. 149 Therefore guard against (the punishment of) Allah and obey me; 150 Do not obey the order of the wasteful, 151 "Who make mischief in the land, and reform not." 152 They said: "Surely you are deluded. 153 You are a mere mortal like us. Show us a miracle if you are telling the Truth". 154 He said, 'This is a she-camel; to her a draught and to you a draught, on a day appointed, 155 and do her no harm, lest suffering befall you on an awesome day!" 156 Then they hamstrung her; and then they became regretful. 157 But the Penalty seized them. Verily in this is a Sign: but most of them do not believe. 158 And verily! Your Lord, He is indeed the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 159

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
