Samood gave the lie to the apostles 141 Recall when their brother Salih said to them: "Have you no fear?" 142 Truly, I am a trustworthy messenger for you, 143 So fear Allah and obey me. 144 For this I ask of you no wage; my wage falls only upon the Lord of the Worlds. 145 Will you be left in what is here, secure [from death], 146 In gardens and fountains, 147 and cornfields and date-palms laden with juicy fruits? 148 Will you still skilfully hew houses out of the mountains? 149 Have fear of God and obey me. 150 Do not obey the order of the wasteful, 151 who do corruption in the earth, and set not things aright.' 152 They said: "Surely you are deluded. 153 You are nothing but a man like us. Bring us a token if you speak the truth." 154 He said: (Behold) this she-camel. She hath the right to drink (at the well), and ye have the right to drink, (each) on an appointed day. 155 “And do not touch her with evil intentions for the punishment of the Great Day will seize you.” 156 But they hamstrung her and so became regretful. 157 But the Penalty seized them. Verily in this is a Sign: but most of them do not believe. 158 And verily thy Lord! He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 159
