The people of the Wood too called the messengers liars. 176 Behold, Shu'aib said to them: "Will ye not fear (Allah)? 177 Behold, I am an apostle [sent by Him] to you, [and therefore] worthy of your trust: 178 Have fear of God and obey me. 179 I ask of you no recompense for this; my reward is only with the Lord of the Universe. 180 ۞ Give full measure, and be not of those who cause others to lose. 181 And weigh with a balance straight. 182 And do not wrong men of their things, and do not act corruptly in the earth, making mischief. 183 And keep your duty unto Him Who created you and the generations of the men of old. 184 They said: You are only of those deluded; 185 Thou art but a mortal like us, and lo! we deem thee of the liars. 186 So cause thou a fragment of the heaven to fall upon us, if thou art of the truth-tellers. 187 He said: "My Lord is the Best Knower of what you do." 188 But they denied him, and We seized them with the torment of the Day of Shadowing (when the cloud had rained down fire). It was indeed the torment of a terrible day! 189 Lo! herein is indeed a portent; yet most of them are not believers. 190 Yet verily your Lord is mighty and merciful. 191
