The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
The Hour is drawing near, and the moon is split (in two). 1 Whenever they see a miracle, they turn away from it and say, "This is just a powerful magic". 2 They have belied, and follow their own fancies. But, every issue will be settled! 3 And there has already come to them of information that in which there is deterrence - 4 a Wisdom far-reaching; yet warnings do not avail. 5 So leave them, [O Muhammad]. The Day the Caller calls to something forbidding, 6 with downcast eyes they shall come out of their graves, as if they were locusts milling about 7 Rushing towards the caller; the disbelievers will say, “This is a tough day.” 8 ۞ [LONG] BEFORE those [who now deny resurrection] did Noah's people call it a lie; and they gave the lie to Our servant and said, "Mad is he!" - and he was repulsed. 9 He therefore prayed to his Lord, “I am overpowered, therefore avenge me.” 10 And so We caused the gates of heaven to open with water pouring down in torrents, 11 And We caused the earth to gush forth with springs. So the waters (of the heaven and the earth) met for a matter predestined. 12 And We carried Nooh upon a ship of wooden planks and nails. 13 Which sailed right under Our eyes: A recompense for him who had been denied. 14 And certainly We left it as a sign, but is there anyone who 15 How (great) was then My punishment and My warning! 16 And We have indeed made the Qur’an easy to memorise, so is there one who would remember? 17 Ad cried lies. How then were My chastisement and My warnings? 18 We sent a raging wind against them on a day of continuous calamity. 19 which tore people away and hurled them as though they were trunks of uprooted palm-trees. 20 Then, how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings? 21 We have made the Qur'an easy to derive lessons from. Is there, then, any who will take heed? 22
