۞ (God will command the angels), "Gather together the unjust, their spouses, and what they had worshipped 22 apart from Allah, and direct them to the path of Hell, 23 and detain them there; they will be called to account. 24 "What is the matter with you that you do not help each other?" 25 Nay, but that Day they shall surrender, 26 and advance one upon another, asking each other questions. 27 They will say: "It was you who used to come to us from the right side [i.e. from the right side of one of us and beautify for us every evil, order us for polytheism, and stop us from the truth i.e. Islamic Monotheism and from every good deed]." 28 They will say, "No! It was you who would not believe -- 29 We had no power over you, but ye were wayward folk. 30 Thus, the words of Our Lord about us have come true and now we are suffering the torment. 31 Therefore we perverted you, and we ourselves were perverts.' 32 On that Day they will all share the punishment: 33 Indeed, that is how We deal with the criminals. 34 Whenever it was said to them: “There is no true deity apart from Allah,” they waxed proud 35 And say: "What! shall we give up our gods for the sake of a Poet possessed?" 36 Not in the least. He has brought the truth and confirmed the other messengers. 37 Verily ye are going to taste a torment afflictive. 38 and be rewarded only according to your deeds." 39 But the sincere servants of God 40 For them is a known sustenance, 41 fruits -- and they high-honoured 42 In Gardens of peace. 43 seated on couches, facing one another. 44 A bowl shall be made to go round them from water running out of springs, 45 white, a delight to the drinkers, 46 Neither does it intoxicate, nor give a headache. 47 Theirs shall be wide-eyed maidens with bashful, restrained glances, 48 so delicate as the hidden peel under an egg's shell. 49 Then they will turn to one another and question one another. 50 One of them will say: “I had a companion in the world 51 who used to say: -- Are you also one of those who confirm the Truth (of life after death)? 52 Can we, when we are dead and have become mere dust and bones - can we (then) verily be brought to book? 53 He says, 'Are you looking down?' 54 and then he looks and sees that [companion of his] in the midst of the blazing fire, 55 He said, “By Allah, you had nearly ruined me!” 56 for had it not been for my Sustainer's favour, I would surely be [now] among those who are given over [to suffering]! 57 "Is it (the case) that we shall not die, 58 except for our first death? Are we not going to be punished? 59 Verily this is the supreme achievement! 60 for which one must strive hard. 61 Is this better as an entertainment or the tree of Zaqqum? 62 which We have made as a torment for the unjust? 63 (Zaqqum) is a tree which grows from the deepest part of hell, 64 and its fruits are like the heads of devils. 65 Truly, they will eat thereof and fill their bellies therewith. 66 then on top of it they have a brew of boiling water, 67 Then most surely their return shall be to hell. 68 They had indeed found their forefathers astray. 69 and they are running in their footsteps. 70 Before them erred most of the ancients, 71 We had certainly sent warners to them. 72 Then see what was the end of those who were warned (but heeded not). 73 Except the chosen slaves of Allah (faithful, obedient, and true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 74
