Noah cried to Us, and how excellent was Our response! 75 We saved him and his people from the great distress, 76 and We made his offspring the only survivors. 77 and We left him thus to be remembered among later generations: 78 'Peace be upon Noah among all the worlds' 79 Thus do We surely reward the doers of good. 80 Surely he was of Our believing servants. 81 [and so We saved him and those who followed him] and then We caused the others to drown. 82 ۞ Verily among those who followed his Way was Abraham. 83 when he turned to his Sustainer with a heart free of evil, 84 When he said to his father (paternal uncle) and his people, “What do you worship?” 85 A lie-- gods besides Allah-- do you desire? 86 What is then your idea about the Lord of the worlds? 87 The people invited him to attend their feast). Then he looked at the stars 88 And said: "I am sick (of what you worship)!" 89 So they went away from him, turning back. 90 He then sneaked upon their deities and said, “Do you not eat?” 91 What is the matter with you, that you do not speak' 92 Then he turned upon them, striking (them) with (his) right hand. 93 Then came the others to him hastening. 94 but he said, "How can you worship things you carve with your own hands, 95 And Allah has created you and what you make. 96 They said: "Build for him a building (it is said that the building was like a furnace) and throw him into the blazing fire!" 97 (This failing), they then sought a stratagem against him, but We made them the ones most humiliated! 98 And he said (after his rescue from the fire): "Verily, I am going to my Lord. He will guide me!" 99 Lord, grant me a righteous son.” 100 And We gave him the glad tidings of a very gentle son (Ishmael). 101 When he was old enough to go about with him, he said: "O my son, I dreamt that I was sacrificing you. Consider, what you think?" He replied: "Father, do as you are commanded. If God pleases you will find me firm." 102 Then when the twain had submitted themselves and he had prostrated him upon his temple. 103 We called out to him: "O Abraham, 104 you have fulfilled what you were commanded to do in your dream." Thus do We reward the righteous ones. 105 Lo! that verily was a clear test. 106 And We rescued him in exchange of a great sacrifice. (The sacrifice of Ibrahim and Ismail – peace be upon them – is commemorated every year on 10, 11 and 12 Zil Haj). 107 and We let it (the beautiful praise) remain upon him in the latter (generations), 108 Peace be upon Ibrahim! 109 Thus indeed do We reward those who do right. 110 He is indeed one of Our high ranking, firmly believing bondmen. 111 So We gave him the good news of Isaac, apostle, who is among the righteous. 112 and blessed him and Isaac too: some of their offspring were good, but some clearly sinned against their souls. 113
