Saad, by the Holy Reading (Koran) of the Remembrance. 1 Nay, those who desbelieve are in false pride and opposition. 2 How many a generation We destroyed before them, and they called, but time was none to escape. 3 They wondered that a warner had come to them from among themselves, and the deniers of the Truth said: “This is a sorcerer, and a big liar. 4 Has he made the gods [only] one God? Indeed, this is a curious thing." 5 And their leaders went about, “Leave him and cling steadfastly to your Gods! Indeed he has a hidden objective in this!” 6 "We have not heard (the like) of this among the people of these later days. This is nothing but an invention! 7 “Is the Qur’an which is sent to him, among us?” In fact they are in a doubt concerning My Book; in fact, they have not yet tasted My punishment. 8 Or do they [think that they] own the treasures of thy Sustainer's grace - [the grace] of the Almighty, the Giver of Gifts? 9 Or, is theirs the Kingdom of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them? Then let them ascend by (their) means! 10 A host of deserters of the allies shall be here put to flight. 11 Before them (were many who) rejected messengers,- the people of Noah, and 'Ad, and Pharaoh, the Lord of Stakes, 12 And the tribe of Thamud, and the people of Lut, and the People of the Woods; these are the groups. 13 None of them was such that it did not deny the Noble Messengers, therefore My punishment became inevitable. 14
