And remember Our bondman Ayyub (Job); when he cried out* to his Lord, “The devil has struck me with hardship and pain.” (After seven years of patience.) 41 Stamp the ground with thy foot, yonder is water to wash in, cool, and water to drink. 42 And We bestowed on him his household and along with them the like thereof, out of mercy from us, and a remembrance unto men of understanding. 43 We said to Him, "Take a handful of twigs in your hand and strike with that but do not break your oath." We found him steadfast. What an excellent servant! He turned constantly to his Lord. 44 Also, remember Our worshipers Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, those of might and vision. 45 We distinguished them for the distinct remembrance of the abode (of the Hereafter). 46 Indeed with Us they are among the chosen, the excellent. 47 Also, remember our worshipers Ishmael, Elisha, and ThulKifl, they are among the good. 48 This is a reminder; and most surely there is an excellent resort for those who guard (against evil), 49 gardens of perpetual bliss, with gates wide-open to them, 50 wherein they shall recline, wherein they shall ask for abundant fruit and drinks, 51 ۞ and with them maidens restraining their glances of equal age. 52 This is what you were promised on the Day of Reckoning: 53 this is Our unending provision' 54 This (for the virtuous); but for the transgressors the evil destination, 55 Hell!- they will burn therein, - an evil bed (indeed, to lie on)!- 56 This, [then, for them] so let them taste it: burning despair and ice-cold darkness 57 And other (torment) of the kind in pairs (the two extremes)! 58 Their leaders will be told, "This band will also be thrown headlong with you into hell." Their leaders will exclaim, "May condemnation fall upon them! Let them suffer the torment of fire". 59 They shall say: Nay! you-- no welcome to you: you did proffer it to us, so evil is the resting-place. 60 They will say: our Lord! whosever hath brought this upon us, unto him increase doubly the torment of the Fire. 61 And they say, “What is the matter with us that we do not see the men whom we thought were evil?” 62 [and] whom we made the target of our derision? Or is it that [they are here, and] our eyes have missed them?" 63 Such, behold, will in truth be the [confusion and] mutual wrangling of the people of the fire! 64
