Say: "Truly am I a Warner: no god is there but the one Allah, Supreme and Irresistible,- 65 The Lord of the heavens and the earth and what is between them, the Mighty, the most Forgiving. 66 Say, “That is a great tidings.” 67 from which you are turning away.” 68 I had no knowledge of the Exalted Assembly when they argued [against the creation of man]: 69 I have only received revelation to give you plain warning. 70 [For,] lo, thy Sustainer said unto the angels: "Behold, I am about to create a human being out of clay; 71 “So when I have perfected him and breathed into him a spirit from Myself, (you all) fall down before him in prostration.” 72 So all the angels prostrated themselves 73 save Iblis: he gloried in his arrogance, and [thus] became one of those who deny the truth. 74 Said Allah, “O Iblis! What prevented you from prostrating before one whom I have created with My hands*? Have you become proud or were you haughty from the beginning?” (Used as a metaphor). 75 He said: I am better than he: me Thou hast created of fire, and him Thou hast created of clay. 76 "Begone! You are accursed: 77 And lo! My curse is on thee till the Day of Judgment. 78 Said he, 'My Lord, respite me till the day they shall be raised.' 79 (Allah) said: "Verily! You are of those allowed respite 80 Until the Day of the time well-known." 81 Said he, 'Now, by Thy glory, I shall pervert them all together, 82 excepting those Thy servants among them that are sincere.' 83 (Allah) said: "The Truth is, and the Truth I say, 84 I will fill up Hell with you and every one of them who follows you." 85 Say, "I do not ask you for any recompense for this, nor am I a man of false pretentions: 86 this is simply an admonition to mankind, 87 And ye will come in time to know the truth thereof. 88
