54 verses, revealed in Mecca after Forgiver (Ghaafer) before Consultation (Al-Shooraa)

In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful

Ha. Mim. 1 This is the revelations from the Beneficent, Merciful God. 2 a divine writ, the messages whereof have been clearly spelled out as a discourse in the Arabic tongue for people of [innate] knowledge, 3 As a giver of good tidings and a warner; but most of them turn away, so they do not hear. 4 They say, 'Our hearts are veiled from what thou callest us to, and in our ears is a heaviness, and between us and thee there is a veil; so act; we are acting!' 5 Say, O [Muhammad], "I am only a man like you to whom it has been revealed that your god is but one God; so take a straight course to Him and seek His forgiveness." And woe to those who associate others with Allah - 6 who do not pay the zakat, and who deny the Hereafter. 7 For those who believe and do good works is an enduring wage' 8
