▼ 56 The Inevitable
Al-Waaqe'ah 2 of 3
A numerous company from among the first, 39 and many from the later generations. 40 And those on the left hand: What of those on the left hand? 41 [They will find themselves] in the midst of scorching winds, and burning despair, 42 And a shade of black smoke, 43 which will neither be cool nor soothing. 44 For, behold, in times gone by they were wont to abandon themselves wholly to the pursuit of pleasures, 45 and persisted in the great sin 46 It was they who said, "Shall we be resurrected after we die and have turned into dust and bones? 47 And also our forefathers? 48 Say (unto them, O Muhammad): Lo! those of old and those of later time 49 will indeed be gathered together at an appointed time on a Day known [only to God]: 50 Then you erring ones, you that cried lies, 51 "Ye will surely taste of the Tree of Zaqqum. 52 "Then will ye fill your insides therewith, 53 and drink on top of that boiling water 54 and you will drink as the lapping of thirsty camels. 55 That is their accommodation on the Day of Recompense. 56 We have created you, so why do you not believe? 57 Have you ever considered that [seed] which you emit? 58 did you create it or did We? 59 It is We Who have ordained death among you, and We have not been beaten – 60 In that We will change your likenesses and produce you in that [form] which you do not know. 61 You have certainly known the first creation. Why, then, do you not take heed? 62 So what is your opinion regarding what you sow? 63 Is it ye that cause it to grow, or are We the Cause? 64 Did We will, We would make it broken orts, and you would remain bitterly jesting -- 65 Verily we are undone. 66 Rather, we have been prevented' 67 Consider the water that you drink. 68 Is it you who cause it to come down from the clouds - or are We the cause of its coming down? 69 If We so pleased, We certainly could make it salty. Why, then, are you not grateful? 70 Have ye observed the fire which ye strike out; 71 Is it you that produce the trees for it, or are We the producers? 72 We have made it a Reminder (for the Hell-fire, in the Hereafter); and an article of use for the travellers (and all the others, in this world). 73 Glorify, then, (O Prophet), the name of your Great Lord. 74

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
