And whatever calamity befalls you, is because of what your hands have earned – and there is a great deal He pardons! 30 You are not able to frustrate Him in the earth; and, apart from God, you have neither protector nor helper. 31 And of His Signs are the ships that sail in the sea like mountains. 32 If it be His Will He can still the Wind: then would they become motionless on the back of the (ocean). Verily in this are Signs for everyone who patiently perseveres and is grateful. 33 Or He wrecks them for what they have earned; and He pardons much; 34 Those who dispute Our verses may know that they have no asylum. 35 Whatever ye are given (here) is (but) a convenience of this life: but that which is with Allah is better and more lasting: (it is) for those who believe and put their trust in their Lord: 36 And those who avoid heinous sins and indecencies, and when they are wroth forgive. 37 those who answer their Lord, establish the prayers, and their affairs are by consultation; who spend of that which We have given them, 38 And those who take revenge when rebellion harms them. 39 The recompense of evil is evil the like of it. But he who forgives and makes amends, his reward lies with Allah. Surely He does not love the wrong-doers. 40 And whoso defendeth himself after he hath suffered wrong - for such, there is no way (of blame) against them. 41 The blame is only against those who oppress men and wrong-doing and insolently transgress beyond bounds through the land, defying right and justice: for such there will be a penalty grievous. 42 But surely he who bears patiently and is forgiving -- surely that is true constancy. 43
