And indeed We rescued the Descendants of Israel from a disgraceful torture. 30 from Pharaoh who was most prominent among the prodigals. 31 And We chose them (the Children of Israel) above the 'Alamin (mankind, and jinns) [during the time of Musa (Moses)] with knowledge, 32 and showed them signs in which there was a clear test. 33 Lo! these, forsooth, are saying: 34 "There is nothing beyond our first death, and we shall not be raised again. 35 Bring us our fathers, if you speak truly!' 36 Are they better or the people of Tubba and those before them? We destroyed them, for surely they were guilty. 37 And We created not the heavens and the earth, and all that is between them, for mere play, 38 We created them not save in truth; but most of them know it not. 39 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] is the term appointed for all of them: 40 The Day when no protector can avail his client in aught, and no help can they receive, 41 Except those upon whom Allah has mercy; indeed He only is the Most Honourable, the Most Merciful. 42
