The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Compassionate. 1 Has taught (you mankind) the Quran (by His Mercy). 2 Created man, 3 Has taught him the knowledge of the past and the future. 4 The sun and the moon move according to a fixed reckoning; 5 the stars and the trees bend in prostration. 6 and He has raised up the heaven and has set a balance 7 In order that you may not transgress (due) balance. 8 Give just weight and do not skimp the scales. 9 And the earth, He has set it for living creatures; 10 Therein are fruits, date-palms producing sheathed fruit-stalks (enclosing dates). 11 and grains with their husk and fragrant plants. 12 Which of the bounties of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 13 He created man of fermented clay dried tinkling hard like earthen ware, 14 and has created the jinn from the flame of fire. 15 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 16 (He is) the Lord of the two easts (places of sunrise during early summer and early winter) and the Lord of the two wests (places of sunset during early summer and early winter). 17 How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? 18 He let forth the two seas that meet together, 19 and yet there is a barrier between them which they may not overstep. 20 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 21 Out of them come pearls and coral. 22 Which, then, of the benefits of your Lord will ye twain belie? 23 His too are the ships that run, raised up in the sea like land-marks. 24 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 25
