The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By oath of (mount) Tur. 1 and by the Book in lines 2 On a parchment scroll unrolled, 3 And the House (Kaaba) that is visited, 4 And the lofty roof. 5 By the sea overflowing. 6 Indeed your Lord’s punishment will surely take place. 7 there is none to prevent it. 8 [It will come to pass] on the Day when the skies will be convulsed in [a great] convulsion, 9 and the mountains will move with [an awesome] movement. 10 So woe on that day to those who reject (the truth), 11 Who, ignoring the Reality, engage in pleasantries. 12 On that Day when they shall be pitched into the Fire of Gehenna (Hell), 13 This is the Fire which you used to belie. 14 "Is this then a fake, or is it ye that do not see? 15 Endure it [now]! But [whether you] bear yourselves with patience or without patience, it will be the same to you: you are but being requited for what you were wont to do." 16 Surely the God-fearing shall be in Gardens and bliss, 17 rejoicing in all their Lord has given them, and their Lord will guard them against the punishment of Hell. 18 (They will be told): “Eat and drink to your hearts' content as a reward for your deeds.” 19 Reclining on thrones set in lines, and We will unite them to large-eyed beautiful ones. 20 To those who have attained to faith We shall unite their offspring who have also followed them in faith, and We shall not let any of their good deeds go unrewarded; every human being is a pledge for whatever he has earned. 21 And We shall bestow on them, of fruit and meat, anything they shall desire. 22 They will exchange with one another a cup [of wine] wherein [results] no ill speech or commission of sin. 23 ۞ Youths as fair as hidden pearls will be set apart to wait upon them; they will be running to and fro to serve them. 24 And they [who are thus blest] will turn to one another, asking each other [about their past lives]. 25 Saying: Lo! of old, when we were with our families, we were ever anxious; 26 So Allah conferred favor upon us and protected us from the punishment of the Scorching Fire. 27 "Verily, We used to invoke Him (Alone and none else) before. Verily, He is Al-Barr (the Most Subtle, Kind, Courteous, and Generous), the Most Merciful." 28
