The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the mount 1 By the book inscribed. 2 On fine parchment unrolled, 3 And [by] the frequented House 4 And the roof exalted, 5 And by the Ocean filled with Swell;- 6 surely thy Lord's chastisement is about to fall; 7 none can avert that. 8 [It will come to pass] on the Day when the skies will be convulsed in [a great] convulsion, 9 The mountains move and fly away, 10 Then woe that day unto the deniers 11 Those who sport entering into vain discourses. 12 The day when they are thrust with a (disdainful) thrust, into the fire of hell 13 This is the fire which you used to deny. 14 "Is this then a fake, or is it ye that do not see? 15 Burn in its heat. It is all the same for you whether you exercise patience or not; This is the recompense for your deeds". 16 Surely the God-fearing shall be in Gardens and bliss, 17 Rejoicing because of what their Lord gave them, and their Lord saved them from the punishment of the burning fire. 18 [And they will be told:] "Eat and drink with good cheer as an outcome of what you were wont to do, 19 reclining on couches arranged in rows. And We shall wed them to fair maidens with large beautiful eyes. 20 And they who believe and whose seed follow them in faith, We cause their seed to join them (there), and We deprive them of nought of their (life's) work. Every man is a pledge for that which he hath earned. 21 And We will provide them with fruit and meat from whatever they desire. 22 They will exchange cups of wine free of (incitement to) pleasantry or sin. 23 ۞ There will circulate among them [servant] boys [especially] for them, as if they were pearls well-protected. 24 They will go to one another asking each other questions: 25 "Before this, when we were among our families, we were full of fear of God's displeasure -- 26 So Allah conferred favor upon us and protected us from the punishment of the Scorching Fire. 27 Lo! we used to pray unto Him of old. Lo! He is the Benign, the Merciful. 28
