The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
I swear by the Mountain, 1 And by the Book Inscribed. 2 on parchment for distribution, 3 And the House (Kaaba) that is visited, 4 by the elevated canopy; 5 And [by] the sea filled [with fire], 6 verily your Lord's chastisement shall come to pass, 7 There is none can avert it;- 8 On the day when the heavens will swiftly fly 9 and the mountains move, moving. 10 So woe on that day to those who reject (the truth), 11 Those who sport entering into vain discourses. 12 The day they are dragged and pushed into Hell, 13 This is the fire which you used to deny. 14 Is this, then, any feat of magic or are you unable to see? 15 Endure it [now]! But [whether you] bear yourselves with patience or without patience, it will be the same to you: you are but being requited for what you were wont to do." 16 Indeed, the righteous will be in gardens and pleasure, 17 Enjoying in that which their Lord has bestowed on them, and (the fact that) their Lord saved them from the torment of the blazing Fire. 18 “Eat and drink with pleasure, a reward for what you used to do.” 19 They will recline (with ease) on Thrones (of dignity) arranged in ranks; and We shall join them to Companions, with beautiful big and lustrous eyes. 20 To those who have attained to faith We shall unite their offspring who have also followed them in faith, and We shall not let any of their good deeds go unrewarded; every human being is a pledge for whatever he has earned. 21 We shall provide them in abundance with such fruit and meat as they desire. 22 They shall pass on to one another a cup that will incite neither levity nor sin. 23 ۞ and there go round them youths, their own, as if they were hidden pearls. 24 They will turn to one another and ask (regarding the past events). 25 Saying, “Indeed before this, we were in our houses, worried.” 26 and so God has graced us with His favour, and has warded off from us all suffering through the scorching winds [of frustration]. 27 Indeed, we used to supplicate Him before. Indeed, it is He who is the Beneficent, the Merciful." 28
