The Stars (Al-Najm)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
CONSIDER this unfolding [of God's message,] as it comes down from on high! 1 Your companion (Muhammad SAW) has neither gone astray nor has erred. 2 He does not speak out of his own desires. 3 It [the Quran] is nothing but revelation sent down to him. 4 something that a very powerful one has imparted to him, 5 very strong; he stood poised, 6 While he was in the higher [part of the] horizon. 7 Then he approached and descended 8 So he was the measure of two bows or closer still. 9 When He revealed to His votary what He revealed. 10 The heart was not untrue in (making him see) what he saw. 11 Will ye then dispute with him concerning what he seeth? 12 And indeed he (Muhammad SAW) saw him [Jibrael (Gabriel)] at a second descent (i.e. another time). 13 Near the lote-tree of the last boundary. 14 Close to which is the Garden of Tranquility, 15 When that covered the lote-tree which covered it. 16 Neither did sight falter nor exceed the bounds. 17 Verily he saw one of the greater revelations of his Lord. 18 Have you considered El-Lat and El-'Uzza 19 And Manat, the third - the other one? 20 "What! For you the males and for Him the females?" 21 That indeed is a division most unfair! 22 They are naught but names which you have named, you and your fathers; Allah has not sent for them any authority. They follow naught but conjecture and the low desires which (their) souls incline to; and certainly the guidance has come to them from their Lord. 23 Or shall man have whatever he fancies? 24 So (know that) Allah only is the Owner of all – the Hereafter and this world. 25
