The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the star when it descends, 1 That your companion is not confused, nor has he gone astray, 2 And he speaketh not of his own desire. 3 It is but a revelation revealed. 4 One of mighty powers hath taught it him. 5 one endowed with immense wisdom. He came forth and stood poised, 6 While he was on the uppermost horizon. 7 Then he drew nigh and came down 8 Till he was (distant) two bows' length or even nearer, 9 And he revealed to His Servant what he revealed. 10 His heart did not falsify what he perceived. 11 what, will you dispute with him what he sees? 12 And assuredly he saw him at another descent. 13 by the lote-tree at the farthest boundary, 14 Near it is the Garden of Refuge - 15 When that which covers covered the lote-tree; 16 The sight turned not aside, nor it exceeded. 17 Indeed he saw some of the greatest signs of His Lord. 18 Have you really considered al-Lat and al-"Uzza, 19 And Manat, the third, the last? 20 What, have you males, and He females? 21 That indeed is a division most unfair! 22 These are only names given by yourselves and your fathers. God has not given them any authority. They, (unbelievers), only follow mere conjecture and the desires of their souls, even though guidance has already come to them from their Lord. 23 Can the human being have whatever he wishes? 24 To Allah belong both the Next World and the present. 25
