The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
The hour drew nigh and the moon did rend asunder. 1 (Regardless of any Signs these people see), they turn away and say: “This is an ongoing sorcery.” 2 And they call (it) a lie, and follow their low desires; and every affair has its appointed term. 3 And certainly some narratives have come to them wherein is prevention-- 4 Effective wisdom; but warnings avail not. 5 Therefore turn away from them; on the day when the announcer will call towards a severe unknown matter – 6 with downcast eyes they shall come out of their graves, as if they were locusts milling about 7 They shall be hurrying forth towards the caller, and the unbelievers (who had once denied this Day), will say: “This is a woeful Day.” 8 ۞ The people of Noah denied before them, and they denied Our servant and said, "A madman," and he was repelled. 9 Thereupon he called out to his Sustainer, "Verily, I am defeated; come Thou, then, to my succour!" 10 We opened the gates of the sky and water started to pour down. 11 And We caused the earth to gush forth with springs, so the waters met (and rose) to the extent decreed. 12 And We bare him on a thing of planks and nails. 13 which sailed on under Our supervision: a reward for him who had been shown ingratitude. 14 We have left this as a sign: but will anyone take heed? 15 How then were My chastisement and My warnings? 16 We have made the Quran easy to understand, but is there anyone who would pay attention? 17 And there belied the A'ad; so how dreadful have been My torment and warning! 18 We indeed sent towards them a severe windstorm, on a day the ill luck of which lasted upon them forever. 19 it swept the people away as though they were palm-trunks uprooted: 20 How [dreadful] was My punishment and My warning! 21 And certainly We have made the Quran easy for remembrance, but is there anyone who will mind? 22
