The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
The Hour (of Judgment) is nigh, and the moon is cleft asunder. 1 And if they see a sign, they turn away, and say: "This is continuous magic." 2 And they call (it) a lie, and follow their low desires; and every affair has its appointed term. 3 And there have come to them such tidings as contain a deterrent -- 4 which are full of wisdom; but the warnings do not help. 5 Wherefore withdrew thou from them. The Day whereon the summoner will summon mankind unto a thing unpleasant. 6 They will come forth,- their eyes humbled - from (their) graves, (torpid) like locusts scattered abroad, 7 These disbelievers will say, "This is a hard day". 8 ۞ (Long) before them the nation of Noah belied. They belied Our worshiper saying: 'Mad' and he was reprimanded. 9 Then he supplicated to his Lord, (saying): 'I am overcome, help me' 10 So We opened the gates of heaven, with water pouring forth. 11 And caused springs to gush out from the earth, so that the two waters met totalling a quantity that had been destined. 12 And We carried him upon a thing of planks and nails, 13 which floated on the water before Our very eyes. The flood was a recompense for the deeds of the disbelievers. 14 And indeed, We have left this as a sign, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)? 15 So how did My punishment turn out, and My threats? 16 Hence, indeed, We made this Qur'an easy to bear in mind: who, then, is willing to take it to heart? 17 The tribe of A’ad denied – so how did My punishment turn out, and My warnings? 18 Verily, We sent against them a furious wind of harsh voice on a day of evil omen and continuous calamity. 19 Sweeping men away as though they were uprooted trunks of palm-trees. 20 Then see how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings! 21 But We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition? 22
