The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
The Hour of Resurrection drew near and the moon split asunder. 1 And if they see a miracle, they turn away and say, "Passing magic." 2 They reject (the warning) and follow their (own) lusts but every matter has its appointed time. 3 And there has already come to them of information that in which there is deterrence - 4 Wisdom consummate. But warnings avail not. 5 turn thou away from them. On the Day when the Summoning Voice will summon [man] unto something that the mind cannot conceive, 6 Their eyes cast down, going forth from their graves as if they were scattered locusts, 7 running with outstretched necks to the Caller. The unbelievers shall say, 'This is a hard day!' 8 ۞ Before these, the people of Nooh denied and they belied Our bondman and said, “He is a madman” and rebuffed him. 9 Then he invoked his Lord (saying): "I have been overcome, so help (me)!" 10 So We opened the gates of heaven with water pouring forth. 11 And We caused the earth to gush forth with springs, so the waters met (and rose) to the extent decreed. 12 We bore him on an [ark] which, made of planks and nails, 13 and it floated under Our eyes: a recompense for him who had been rejected with ingratitude. 14 We have left it as a sign. Is there any that will remember? 15 Then see how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings! 16 Now We have made the Koran easy for Remembrance. Is there any that will remember? 17 The 'Ad (people) (too) rejected (Truth): then how terrible was My Penalty and My Warning? 18 We loosed against them a wind clamorous in a day of ill fortune continuous, 19 Extracting the people as if they were trunks of palm trees uprooted. 20 How then were My punishment and My warnings! 21 Hence, indeed, We made this Qur'an easy to bear in mind: who, then, is willing to take it to heart? 22
