The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event takes place, 1 (and none denies its descending) 2 Abasing exalting. 3 When the earth shall be shaken with a (severe) shaking, 4 And the mountains shall be crumbled to atoms, 5 Turned to dust, floating in the air, 6 You will become three categories: 7 Then (as to) the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 8 And those on the left – how (wretched) are those on the left! 9 And those who surpassed have indeed excelled. 10 It is they who are the close ones. 11 In Gardens of Bliss: 12 a host of the ancients 13 And a few from among the latter. 14 [They will be seated] on gold-encrusted thrones of happiness, 15 Reclining thereon, face to face. 16 There shall go round unto them youths ever-young. 17 With bowls and ewers and a cup from a pure spring 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 And such fruits as they fancy, 20 And meat of birds that they may wish. 21 and there shall be wide-eyed maidens, 22 The likenesses of pearls well-protected, 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 They will not hear any useless speech in it, or any sin. 25 All talk will be sound and upright. 26 And those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 27 They shall recline on high amidst lote trees without thorns 28 And clustered plantains, 29 Lengthened shadows, 30 and flowing water, 31 and abundant fruit, 32 Whose season is not limited, nor (supply) forbidden, 33 And carpets raised. 34 We have created (their Companions) of special creation. 35 So made them as maidens. 36 Loving, equals in age, 37 for those on the Right, 38
