The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ WHEN THAT which must come to pass [at last] comes to pass, 1 no soul will deny its coming. 2 It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt; 3 When the earth is violently shaken 4 and the mountains will crumble 5 and become a dust, scattered, 6 On that day, you (mankind) will be divided into three groups: 7 Thus, there shall be such as will have attained to what is right: oh, how [happy] will be they who have attained to what is right! 8 Companions of the Left, what are the Companions of the Left? 9 and the Outstrippers: the Outstrippers 10 (The foremost ones) will be the nearest ones to God 11 In Gardens of Bliss: 12 a good many of those of olden times, 13 And a few of later ages, 14 On studded thrones. 15 reclining on them facing each other; 16 Immortal youths will serve them 17 With cups, and jugs, and a glass from the flowing wine, 18 No after-ache will they receive therefrom, nor will they suffer intoxication: 19 And with fruits, any that they may select: 20 And flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And there will be fair ones large eyed. 22 The likes unto pearls hidden. 23 A recompense for that which they have been working. 24 No empty talk will they hear there, nor any call to sin, 25 All talk will be sound and upright. 26 NOW AS FOR those who have attained to righteousness - what of those who have attained to righteousness? 27 Among thorn-less lote-trees. 28 And clusters of banana plants. 29 Lengthened shadows, 30 Gushing water, 31 and fruits in abundance, 32 unfailing and not forbidden. 33 and raised couches 34 We have created (their Companions) of special creation. 35 So made them as maidens. 36 intensely loving and of matching age. 37 for those on the Right, 38
